NEW AT SAILFEST

Lighthouse Heritage

Join New London this summer as the city celebrates its unique Lighthouse Heritage with exhibitions, displays and special events.

The Custom House Maritime Museum: This museum has a new permanent lighthouse display, featuring the original 4th order Fresnel lens from New London Ledge Light.

New London County Historical Society: Visit the home of Nathaniel Shaw, Jr., who donated the land upon which New London Harbor Light was built and who was its first official keeper, and learn about the colonial trade out of New London that made the lighthouse a necessity.

Public Library of New London: On display is a lighthouse aficionado’s collection of lighthouse memorabilia, along with archival lighthouse photographs from the library collection.

Studio 33 Art & Frame Gallery: This gallery exhibits lighthouse paintings, prints and note cards from numerous local artists, including Robert Hauschild.

While you’re downtown, take a Walking Tour of Lighthouses, on display in downtown New London Storefronts. See if you can find all six windows with lighthouses created by artist Rob Groves.

Traditional Call Across The River

Save your voices for the Call Across the River happening on the night of the Fireworks Extravaganza. Listen to Q105 (105.5) or WELJ (104.7) just after 9pm for your cue to give a shout out to your friends across the Thames River.

Don't Sit In Traffic, Take The Train

Connecticut Department of Transportation has realized the heavy traffic on I95 in July, so they have kindly set-up a special train service for Saturday, July 9th.

The evening train will depart New Haven at 5:05pm, make all intermediate station stops and arrive at New London at 6:10pm. This will give visitors plenty of time to enjoy the festival and get your place for fireworks. The train will depart New London at 11:00pm, making all intermediate station stops and arrive at New Haven at 12:07am.
